This is not about Hinduism
by abhishek nair on Jun 05, 2007 08:59 AM

Question is does the temple belong to a brahmin family or the devotees? My belief is that it belongs to its devotees and should be open to any follower of Hinduism irrespective of his/her parent's religions. Yes, Vaylar Ravi's motivations are always suspect, especially when you consider that he did not raise any problems the last time this happened to his children. It is only because he is more powerful and capable of threatening the temple administration that he is bringing up the issue. However, the truth whether spoken by a known liar or someone else is still the truth. And the truth here is that this is an outdated tradition, and what is going on is a power struggle between the temple families and Ravi. It has very little to do with the devotees or religion itself. It has nothing to do with the institution of Hinduism, because as Krishna says in the Gita, "All paths lead to me."
