To act impartial in such a situation you need impartial government not government made on the basis of some statistical juggelery and which uses case, religion as a base.
The position of Israel is in sharp contrast to india. It said that it can never have negotiation / talk with those who are involved in kidnappings. Compare it with Indian Govt's act of taking terrorists in national plane to kandhar.
India would also be an easy target. Given the people's tendency to worship statues, make issues from small things, govts inaction on religious gurus and adopting a soft policy on appeasing people to get their votes. How can you act tough then .......
I try to separate Islam from terrorism.... but fail... All the terror is done in the name of Islam... well why is the Jama masjid make a statement and say this is act of devil.... i have observed except for some people like Javed Akhtar etc and some progressive Muslim organizations no one from muslim fraternity condemns these attacks.. I am still not convinced with the silence of Buhkari .who is vocal on small muslim issues.. I may agree that some people like Subana Azmi, Javed Akhtar or President APJ who make microscopic miniscule of the muslim population are sane but the muslim population at large worships Osama. Madarsas set the mind of muslim population and its known to us what the Madarsas propagate..
The Author is correct in expressing his view. It is the Indian nation which has become cowardish not the terrorist. We Indians are being kileed by these inhuman terrorists like cockroaches and still the head of nation keeps mum. Is the statement of foreign minister of Pakistan not a clear indication that who is behind all these activities? If the Government of India is not bound to protect its citizen then by what reason are the citizen liable to protect the pride of the country? Then why should the citezen respect the authority of the government if it fails in its prime duty of safeguarding the lives of its subject and why should not turn ourselves to someone else who can really protect us?
I cannot help but agree with you. Your thoughts mirror mine to the dot. Only y'day I was contemplating on the inaction showed by the Govt of India. We need to go after these terrorists and not rest until we have secured our country enough to prevent any such acts on innocent citizens. I dont think we are incapable of doing this or that we lack the intelligence/armour to do this, but it is a result of the laidback attitude that the gov't has been consistently displaying. I note with horror that the frequency and the audacity of these acts is only increasing because of the govt's refusal to act. Very unfortunate indeed.
Saisuresh seems to be playing for the gallery.A highly spirited blood boiling article, but that is it,the article sadly lacks any specific suggestion, other than a generalised "we should act strong" slogan. Point No:1.America went to war,but that did not stop terrorists from orchestrating attacks there.I saw in another article that just last week,a plot to blow up the tunnels between NJ and Manhattan was discovered and defused. So,the 'strong action' has not scared terrorists from attacking US.
Point No:2.Why US did not attack Pakistan?Half the terrorism in the world would have stopped if they did that.Didn't the US know that if they control Pakistan, they can dismantle a large portion of terrorist network? The fact is Pakistan is not a rollover like Afghan or Iraq. The same with N.Korea.In India's case,it is more or less sure that the attacks has its origin from Paki. What can we do?Nuke Karachi?
Point No:3.Why is it that everyone in the street want to our govt to 'act strong',but successive govts. hadn't?Is it because we selectively elect cowards as our leaders? Is it because the parties don't want the votes of the mass majority who wants strong action?
Mere emotional outbrust will not help, keeping businesses close for a day will not help. Blaiming govt will not help, We need a comprehensive plan.
1.File a Show cause notice in the high court against state and central government.( govt has to give public explantion as to why this has happened, govt said they had information but did not know where and when, mumbai's local trains are obvious targets, its not rocket sicence, why did govt fail then )
2.Create a "Mumbai Security departmnet" funded by central govt just like "Home land security department in USA"). Mumabi contributes 35% of the total tax income of the country
3. Mumbai security department should present a very comprehensive security plan identifying key potential targets of mumbai and establishing Yello, Orange and Red security levels, following which people will know to be more vigilant
4. Mumbai seciruty department should also have capabilities to respond to medical emergencies
5. Mumabi security department needs to conduct security drills to test out its plan
6. Additional explanation needs to be given from govt on why trains were resumed without checking each and every compartment for explosives
I do hold very divergent view than what you presented. Stoicness and restraint and a sincere belief in turning the other cheek got us independence. It is very easy to talk of what US did. But we are not US. It never makes sense to do follow the so called mighty. What they did and how effective it is only time will tell. There are far too many dimensions to this war then just terror. Last thing one wants to believe is the foxnews or the "experts" who feature there. You may also read latest issue of Time, the cover story is "cowboy diplomacy" doesnt work. If it didnt work for US I seriously doubt if it will work for us.
We need to look deep into our philosophy to find our answers. Looking west doesnt work.
Just a few thoughts from someone who has no claim to smartness or great knowledge.
I am among those millions of indians, across the world, who feel that our country should display to the world, what happens when a good man fights back. It is high time, every other country on the world map, realised that, if we meddle with india, then it would get a mind blowing reply. Enough of peace and solidarity. We should pardon the sinners, only if there is scope of repentance. but some people will understand the language of war/fighing only. AND TODAY, WE SHOULD PLEDGE BY THE SOULS OF ALL THE FELLOWS, WE LOST, TILL DATE, THAT WE WILL NOT SPARE ANYONE, RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE HEINOUS ACTS.
