Open your eyes maharashtra politicians and people
by manoj on Aug 02, 2005 03:23 PM  Permalink

I am now based at Pune. I worked in several cities. I have not seen a city with worst infrastructure, especially roads. The condition of the road are very bad and the so called politicians and the elite maharashtrians are to be blamed for this. I am a south Indian, and honestly feels that administration is better and efficient in south. In Mumbai and Pune, people are too much emotional and not bothered about the development of the State and their cities. Here people created lot of hype about the Pune city, phew, this is a highly polluted and dirty city. Mumbai should be made a Union Terrirory and all the Thakereys should be thrown out of the Mumbai city, then only Mumbai will develop.

Hey, pseudointellectuals of Maharashtra, Open your eyes, see your city, just compare with Hyderabad, Cochin, Mysore you will realise that you are living in a slum. You won't progress if you have too much faith in Thakereys, Kalmadies and Deshmukhs.

Attitude, a big issue
by Neeraj on Aug 02, 2005 03:19 PM  Permalink

Stop blaming government officials. How many among us are fully aware about our duties to the nation. How many of us are completely loyal to our organization for whom we work. How many of us actually take the responsibility of things we do and the society where we live. We think someone else will do for us, and at the end no one actually does anything.

If everyone can make a resolution, about being loyal to their organization, about being responsible to our society, about giving 100% to whatever we do in our work, I am sure things will improve automatically. We just have to feel responsible, change our attitude, and rest all will fall in place. Cheers!!

Blame Mumbai administration not rain
by H.L. Chandra Shekar on Aug 02, 2005 03:17 PM  Permalink

Mumbai, commercial capital of India is in weird situation today.

The situation in Mumbai got deteriorated not because of Rain but because of negligence on part of the administration. It is quite common that every year as and when there is a rainfall definitely there would be water stagnation in the streets and roads would be submerged leading to a slow movement of traffic or traffic jams in many places. Even administration is also aware of the problems being faced by the Mumbai people during the rains and still they never used to take any concrete measures to avoid these problems permanently. Moreover available infrastructure is also not sufficient to handle the situation of this magnitude as Mumbai city is being overburdened by the excess population and unauthorized structures.

We should blame Mumbai administration rather then rain. Had administration been active and taken proper measures in time to overcome these problems, today situation would have been much different in Mumbai.

At least now administration has to be wake up from its deep slumber and must have proper Disaster Management Plan to face this type of natural calamities.

Stop blaming the rains
by soundarya on Aug 02, 2005 03:17 PM  Permalink

I have read some of the opinions by people all over. Every Indian wants an India like the gulf country or like an USA, but who is to bell the cat? All rights given to each and every citizen is non operative. Why blame the government servants, let the leaders take the blame. It is for their own cause of power they ignore the rights given to the citizens.

I am sure strict laws at each and every point without any deviation would suffice for a clean administration.

Recently, when coastal Tamilnadu was devastated by Tsunami, so many private organisations came to help the government, so many prominent perosnalities all over offered to help, but invain, government did not want the people to get enlightened that anything is possible by an individual, these people were subdued. Why even government officials had to keep their mouth shut because the ruler did not want any rehabilitation.

When you are not supposed to be near the coast, why has the government given permission even now for those fisherfolks to kiss the sea. Inless they pass laws, nothing is possible.

Uprooting the existing politicians and bringing in fresh minds alone can help India in any situation.

Will Mumbai People force politicians to do something better?
by Ganesh on Aug 02, 2005 03:16 PM  Permalink

People have short memory. After such hue and cry, it should not happen that in few months time we forget about the crises we were into and dont presurise the govt. in doing something for Mumbai people. Generally we criticize the govt. and politicians for their lithargic and irresponsible nature. But these criticism has hardly any affect on the govt. and our street smart politicians. People should hold govt. accountable like it is done in other countries through demonstrations etc. e.g. currently in Phillipines. Mumbai feeds thousands of ppl outside Maharashtra only because other states dont bother to create employment opportunties. We on the other hand glorify ppl like laloo prasad, who is more dangerous than ISI, Pakistan. Only the coming months will tell whether we as ppl and govt. does something substantial for Mumbai, which unfortunately I seriously doubt. People should also try to be accountable in trying to force BMC and corporates to keep the city clean, maintain proper drainage systems etc. The last thing is to blame the rains. Well anyways Mumbai will witness in the coming days the delayed celebration of Narayan Rane into Congress Party.

Mumbai Calamity
by Venugopal Ambadi on Aug 02, 2005 03:13 PM  Permalink

Stop blaming the nature, you have to do what you are supposed to.

A City like Mumbai should have proper drains as this is not the first time we have seen this happen. Only this time it is more severe. If we still dont do anything, next time it will be even worse.

Our politicians, both past and present, should be made more accountable. Then only there will be an end to all this.

What a shame
by Sachs on Aug 02, 2005 03:09 PM  Permalink

What a shame !!!!!. politicans are there only there for you when they need votes else they do a disappearing act when you require them the most.... the system failed not because of the bad politics but also because there are many people who make the system bad by corrupting the politicans and everyone...... before blaming others we should make sure that we do not bribe another person to get our work done unless we do this the system will fail again and again
