Blame Mumbai administration not rain
by H.L. Chandra Shekar on Aug 02, 2005 03:17 PM

Mumbai, commercial capital of India is in weird situation today.

The situation in Mumbai got deteriorated not because of Rain but because of negligence on part of the administration. It is quite common that every year as and when there is a rainfall definitely there would be water stagnation in the streets and roads would be submerged leading to a slow movement of traffic or traffic jams in many places. Even administration is also aware of the problems being faced by the Mumbai people during the rains and still they never used to take any concrete measures to avoid these problems permanently. Moreover available infrastructure is also not sufficient to handle the situation of this magnitude as Mumbai city is being overburdened by the excess population and unauthorized structures.

We should blame Mumbai administration rather then rain. Had administration been active and taken proper measures in time to overcome these problems, today situation would have been much different in Mumbai.

At least now administration has to be wake up from its deep slumber and must have proper Disaster Management Plan to face this type of natural calamities.
