The railway budget has lost its relevance in Modern day India. It should be treated as any other PSU. The only thing going for it is Heritage.. Oops sorry legacy. More relevant today is a budget on Infrastructure /Industry and Human resources. A clear cut direction is what will bring FDI as well as keep India in the lime light.

3% is nothin. If u want dat u cancel and book tickets again.. but u will end up losing money...

A Performing Minister & His team
by Shrikant on Feb 26, 2008 02:26 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The last couple of years rail budget clearly shows that a regularly loss making machinery is showing profits & very importantly it is been credited to the people.
This clearly shows that lalu is actually taking the nod & implementing the strategies of the rail ministry bureaucrats & the results are seen.
Cant this be the same with other ministries. But they are more concerned with filling their pockets rather than the people. lalu for whatever reasons be labeled by the opposition that it is to capture the votes but the ultimate beneficiary are the people for which these ministers are been selected not to fill their pockets unlike others.

Let railway be privatised. With money already invested in railways the GOI will earn 1,25,000 crore as rent and public will get more amenities at cheaper rate. It happened in telecommunication it can happen in rail transport. lalu and his men are un-necessarily beating the 'DRUM' before all those pass holding parliamentarians.

fare cut is not fare enough
by Vikas sharma on Feb 26, 2008 02:26 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

With lots of expectations arised, a mere 5 % cut for 2SL is not so grt.. On a Rs.300 ticket u end up saving just Rs.15. It is still more worse for 3AC u will save only Rs.9. It is not a revolutionary budget as they call. With lots of profits the fare cut can be even better.

Praise them if they atleast spend it well for improving railway standards.

Laloo is thinking to show more profits next year rather than helping common man.

would u not complain if the same % was increase in the fare and not reduction???
Its 5% cut on each, see the big picture.
How the railways have to think of earning this money back.

Dear Mr.Laluji
I am a common man and I don't understand the budget so very well,However I still find travelling in a Mumbai Local is like travelling in Hell like condition.Would you pl tell us as to when are the people of mumbai like me will get relief from all that we go thru on a daily basis.I don't see anything that has been declared to be done for the Mumbai Local's.If this is wat you call it a populist budget than I am sure you dont get any vote from the Mumbai Local train travellers at all.
