Yes we need more IIT s quite simple answer it was established with that students in field now what is the studnets number avaliable now and states, better we start one IIT for two states so that you have more talented and trained brains come out let the country send more talented people to surve the Globe
I think, a country's progress - do not entirely depend on the pool of IITs( or IITians), OR, for that matter - technology alone. It (the country) has to be seen as a whole for its progress, rather than depending on a particular sector. For, there are other sectors, like - manufacturing, services etc, which have to be given due importance. And don't forget the farming sector. Netra Khanna. -------------
merely increasing the number of IITs in India is not going to increase the standard of talents rather it will enforce the politicians to take over those in future by beaurocrats and the consequence.....we everybody knows
i being a student of NITC can definitely understand the need to bring more IITs since a major portion of governments aid has already gone to develop this so called exclusiveness of iits. Now we need to understand by making them exclusive lot ,we indirecty encourage them to leave country.
if we have colleges like NIT surathkal,NIT-calicut etc developed to theit full potential we can have a balance in technical education facilities thoughout INDIA .which at present is conc to north .
also we will be coming up with student who actuaaly were mis fortuned or what on day of exam to prove their real worth in the light of improved facilities
As, i think there is no need to increase no. of IIT's.
But i doubt why we are using the collective term IIT's, not IIT Delhi, IIT Mumbai and so..
Are all IIT are in the same league and other institutes are far less than them in each field.
If we go through the ranking's issued by India Today each year, there are other institutes also in TOP 10.
and some of them have ranking's more than IIT's.
If we go in to detailed analysis, these TOP 10 institutes have very tough competition each year and each of them are good and THERE ARE REC'S THERE IN TOP TEN.
It's no doubt REC peopele haven't proved themselves till yet, it's not like that they will not..
IIT's were set up in 1950's and REC's were planned later and on the different term's, so every sought of funding was to the IIT's first and then REC's.
I gone through the message's posted by some people,
I want to raise one question?
How many of IIT'ans proved themselves.
very few... so why other r using the tag of their Big brother's.
I don't want to make this as a heated debate, but we have people like Narayan Murthy( undergrad banglore univ),premji, ambani's, birla's with no IIT degree.
We do't need more IITs, Instead of this we should try to upgrade other state level education institution, so their product also can have same accumn like IITians.
I dont think that there are 5 institutions in the country . Only institutions capable enough to be upgraded to IITs are IT-BHU(which incidentally was to be converted into IIT well before Guwahati & Roorkee were added and is affiliated to JEE since 1971 and proposal in pipeline since 17 years)& to some extent ISM-Dhanbad(affiliatd to JEE for past few years)
yes there is no doubt that we need more IITs . As there are thousand of students who just get deserted beacsue of few points and that doesnot means , that they are no comptenet enough , there level of undersatnding is allmoset the same as an competed IITian , and they can as well do wonders . So my stress is to upgrade the standard of the colleges up to IIT not just create them .... Why , when america can have 20 colloges in a same city of IIT standard , then why not INDIA ...
