Get Real !!!!
by Swati Parvatham on Apr 21, 2006 01:33 PM  Permalink

hey u people talking of the great Indian culture!! so u dont consider the Ajanta n Ellora paintings to be a part of this culture right? Are'nt they open to the public? so why dont u put a fine on those visiting them?

And who are these politicians to put such fines? why dont u divert ur attention to the industries shuttin down in various states due to lack of infrastructure n on overall development rather thn passin these moral policing acts?

if paasin such acts is ur motive, there is one major change to be made ie change the country to military ruled one thn changing the meanin of democracy.

grow up u oldies or u r gonna make the youngsters life hell! u have come to the fag end of ur life but we are at point 1 of it...so let us live our life our way! please dont give ur rusted minds too much pressure...bad for ur health! n hey 500 is nothing fr youngsters of today...n who collects the fines? police? ha ha ha.. it requires just 100 bucks or so to bribe them..once again- GET REAL, MOVE AHEAD IN LIFE AND LIVE N LET LIVE !!!!

Care for you culture, by being public you just show what your parents have teached you
by Deepkant on Apr 21, 2006 01:24 PM  Permalink

when do u do such things in public. I feel when we are not sure about our abilities, we want to display them in public just to gain some self confidence. I just feel that the westerners are very low in confidence about thier partner if he/she loves or just having fun and stuff. So they keep on doing this stuff in public to do a big big showoff. Does kiss in public means that the person lovers his/her partner more than others, can anyone prove that. So stop that stupid imitation of west be cultured and not stuburn copycat.

Moral Police
by mindgod on Apr 21, 2006 01:21 PM  Permalink

Let's make a deal with the so called moral police. If they impose a fine of Rs.500 on every government employee asking for a bribe, then I am ready to shell out a fine for kissing in public. If kissing is immoral, I am sure corruption is equally immoral.

to kiss or not to kiss
by MK GUPTA on Apr 21, 2006 01:20 PM  Permalink

Hats off to politicians, how they manage to use the classical diversionary tactics to divert public attention from burning issues to non issues:

Some examples:

For vote bank politics, keep the voters half literate by giving regionalism oriented slogans including local language education. How many Govt Servants/Politicians educate their children in local medium is a big question mark.

Then they play the poor non english medium educated graduate with nowhere to go, against others privileged to get english medium education by raising the reservation bogie.

When they can't take care of health, education, power supply, illegal constructions mushrooming being demolished, providing space for romance for young couples seeking privacy etc. etc., they create a new demon, Whoa! Moral Policing and kissing in public is the latest issue being raked up.

Public at large knows we are steeped in some values, and generally we love to stand by them. But to moral policing is taking things too far.

All individuals in question are educated and know their social responsibilities. No policing is needed, but I must add, the individuals must take upon themselves to be responsible in public.

Kiss but be carefull !
by Debayan Banerjee on Apr 21, 2006 01:18 PM  Permalink

Well I totally agree that imposing restrictions is not the solution. I don't believe in these type of bans. But yes, if we are a bit mature i believe we ourselves will not engage in kissing in public.

We have our freedom, but it does not mean embarassing others in public places, in front of families, children and elders.

Personally I love my privacy and I would rather like not to be watched by anybody.

And yes the Government should stop interfering in this matters of least importance and let the public decide, meanwhile they should concentrate on real issues.

Regards

Debayan

More important issues than debating on kissing
by Joseph Veigas on Apr 21, 2006 01:18 PM  Permalink

We have more important issues like erradicating terrorism, promoting rural education specially for women, exposing corrupt politicians, peoples views on how to punish such politicians, improvement in roads , power etc to debate which will add value to the society

Can we request Rediff to focus on such issues rather than controvertial issues. This will add value to society

To Kiss or Not To Kiss
by Krishna Kishore on Apr 21, 2006 01:12 PM  Permalink

Hey If ppl in Hyd go thru Necklace road, Sanjeevaiah Park, Indira Parks etc...almost in every place you find ppl kissing in public. I have only one doubt, the females who do dharnas and strikes on the obscenity of the films, the same females can also be find at these places. Don't they think this is more obscene.

Above all, if a guy starts kissing....will he stop doing anything else??? Can someone guarantee this?? So before allowing kiss in public, we need to consider all these factors.
