Hey Banglorean..nice try but a far cry from truth.. you are simply being judgemental. I am a Brahmin myself but don't go by shastras never understood !! Your anti-brahmin notes reeks of but bitterness..
Divide and Rule did I hear you say - might crack my side with laughter ! Wear a thinking cap - might help even if a bit - and read your own lines.. lets send it to Readers Digest column, so you entertain more than me !

Before commenting On Brahmins better know who is a Brahmin from scriptures rather than refering translations made by Britishers or Indians Who have no Knowledge of Sanskrit & Follow British version.

janmana jayate sudrah
samskarad bhaved dvijah
veda-pathad bhaved vipro
brahma janatiti brahmanah

"By birth one is a sudra, by the purificatory process one becomes a dvija, by study of the Vedas one becomes a vipra, and one who knows Brahman is a brahmana."

Bhagavad-gita (18.42
Peacefulness, self-control, austerity, purity, tolerance, honesty, knowledge, wisdom and religiousness %u2014 these are the natural qualities by which the brahmanas work."

Mahabharata (Vana Parva Chapter 180) Yudhisthira explains
"A person who possesses truthfulness, charity, forgiveness, sobriety, gentleness, austerity and lack of hatred is called a brahmana."

Maharaja Yudhisthira in Mahabharata (Vana Parva chapter 180) -
"If such symptoms are found in a sudra, he should never be called a sudra, just as a brahmana is not a brahmana if he lacks these charactaristics

(Srimad Bhagavatam 7.11.35
If one shows the symptoms of being a brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya or sudra, as described above, even if he has appeared in a different class, he should be accepted according to those symptoms of classification."

Though Modern Brahmins have corrupted the system stating birth is the only criteria on should have proper look at the scriptures

As far Periyar goes he is a victim of premature renunciation (as told in his biography on his site),his propogation of philosphy is nothing but his frustration.Same Stalin& Lenin statues have been broken by fellow russians.

Hi Mr. you are still living in half a century ago. These slogans were tried and tested. Find something new !! Today brahmins are in no better poisition than any lowercast hindu. Perhaps even lower !!.

If you still feel animosity for the wrong things done by brahmins many decades ago, then it is your sheer inferiority complex!!

Be realistic !! try to achieve something your own than cursing the died caste system !!!!
