Dinesh,

You very well know what is happening in UP- How mayawathi is forming a social alliance between Dalits, Brahmins and Jats in making a better state.

Can you tell us why Mr Karunanidhi is not doing the same in TN?

I dont know about the context of Periyar statues, maybe some political stunt. But I always thought Ambedkar was more popular in rest of India.

Yes.. Ambedkar is Much more popular, and well known and respected through out India (except TN) than Periyar.

Amedhkar was against Hindu religion, but he never hated any caste, and he never said that people of a particular caste should be killed or beaten. And he was absolutely committed to the unity of the country and he believed in basic value systems of the country.

Other than dislike of Hindu Religion, Periyar and Ambedhkar had totally different world views. Periyar hated all North Indians ,including the Hindi Speaking North Indian OBCs.
