Even though i dont like his views against Hinduism. He was a true genious in opposing Hindi imposotion in Tamil Nadu.
Otherwise it would have created Hindi Chauvunism. Already it is there in many places. People from Hindi heartland assume that Hindi is the only language, so everone should speak in Hindi only.
Even a typical educated Northis give priority to Hindi not English.
Hindi already killed Marathi,Assame,kannada culture. In the years to come the surving language in India will be Hindi and other languages which is againt Hindi.
SO English should be our national language and we should give priority to Reginal Languages.

Periyar used the cheap theories to create political tamil nationalism, this was to create hurdles against the Indian Independence.
Collectively these people destroy the vernacular languages.
