Reservation in TAMILNADU
by on May 01, 2007 01:03 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

In TamilNadu, close to 89% of the Population is categorized under the BC/MBC/SC-ST Categories....

So TamilNadu can show Reservation as a Success because, 89% of the Population in TN is categorised under Reserved Group...

This 89% includes multimillionaires (Shiv Nadar, Sivashankar, Kalanidhi Maran etc) and even people like Jeppiaar who own 20-25 colleges.

There is no point in talking about reservation successful in TN, because almost all the castes in TN are included under reservation.

Actually Periyar originally said that Reservation should be only for those who are not belonging to the Kshathriya, Vaishya and Brahmana Groups , since those groups did not suffer due to casteism of the past.

But in TN, the big Communities which are Kshatriyas (Landlords/Soliders/Warriors) and Vaishyas (Traders/Rich Businessmen) are categorised as OBCs.

kerala is no better. P Chidambaram belongs to the wealthy and socially powerful Natukkottai Chettiars and they are personally very wealthy and own textile businesses. But as per reservation rules, P ChiDambaram's grand daughter is a OBC in Kerala and she will enjoy reservation in Kerala. How is it?
