Now to get one up over the congress , what will a political novice do ? rake up a latent thought force , combine with the then 'state of the art' aryan invasion theory, bring in some references to the oft quoted Manu smriti, and harness the latent anti brahmin feelings that resided at tht time among some tamils who were not capable of getting govt jobs,, take a virulent position on everything presumed elitistic , add in some firebrand communism , a goog dose of effective PR machinery in the form of some losers from the tinsel town of Kollywood like karunanidhi, Bharathidasan, etal.. and u have all the seedings for a long lasting harvest..He was brilliant coz he was the only 'leader' to have so easily mixed anti Indianism and anti Brahminsim in a single platter and so easily. He might have also had received lots of Great Britain pounds from the King of England, for these also are the very means that the brits sought to weaken the indian nation; divide and conquer in its classic form. I suspect he might be a traitor having sold himself to brits. the enemy's enemy is my friend , sir !!
Let me put it forward to all people here.I hail from a so called OBC caste in Western Tamil nadu( in fact from the same town of erode where EVR Periyaar hails from .And no way is this Periyaar a true representative of tamils. In fact he is a hybird between a kannadiga and telugu. He was hailing from the kshatriya dynasty of naickers, who were actually the governors of the Vijayanagar Kingdom which rose to power in northern Karnataka in mid 16th century.
He was a sicko who called tamil and tamil nadu the fiefdom of barbarianim, ad nauseam.. His early followers were essentially the disgruntled youth who were neither too impressed with the british nor were enamoured by the freedom movement. typical ex are perverts like karunanidhi.
And yes, there were some problems in hinduism. it had grown a bit old, a bit archaic if u might describe it correctly. it needed some rejuvenation. and so came in the true reformers like Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo, Sri Ramana Maharshi, Annie Besant( a hindu by conversion), or like the beloved Sri Narayana Guru from our neibouring Travancore state ( todays god's own country !). these people knew the true nature of india, its all prevading sanatana dharma , and they knew that the solution for this minor decadence is to reform the structure, not destroy the structure itself.
And this sicko was a debonair,( as the interviewee in this piece has said), hedonistic, self indulgent . he was a true scheming machavellain. He had money to spend . He dreamed of being a ruler one day and joined congress. but the fruit tasted bitter. and came out of congress party over a paltry issue( sign of him not being part of anti brits ) , and then he became a virulent anti brahmin coz of some slight on him for not being a brahmin when he sneaked into a anna dhana center in Kashi . I know of numerous instances when his followers have not allowed Dalits inside their houses. i have witnessed with my own eyes, how people from my OBC caste have forced the two tumbler system on poor dalits. If u see the history of TN, the development of Sanskrit and Tamil were both mutually symbiotic. the patronisation of one helped the development of other. nowhere in tamil history has there been a pitting of these two great languages and traditions against each other. the tamil kings all wanted to claim lineage to the 'Solar Dynasty' !! , now why is that ? do these things indicate that the ancient tamils were acting non tamil in their character ? what exactly is a tamil character ? is it hating another language and another caste ?? if u say brahmins are racist ? whats ur justification ? werent the OBC's of TN more racist than the supposed nature of brahmins ? what locus shandi do u have ? Or is it a case of the pot calling the kettle black ??
How is it that a community which is less than 5 % of total population of TN supposedly the masters of the remaining 95 % ? Truth is that the profession of brahmins is education. becoz of this they rose to power in the structures of the powers that be . At that time most of the OBC's were engaged in their native occupations like agriculture , weaving, trading,fishing etc. There is no way u can blame Brahmins for garnering the lions share at that time as they were the only ones who needed that share !!!
Truth hurts my dear friend , learn to accept the truth !!! Dont keep cringing on anti hindi and stuff even now! get out of the state of TN and see that there is a big huge world that is as great and unique as tamil and tamil nadu are, respect and admire . dont detest and be hypocritical. Even i used to be feeling the same way, till i got out of TN and started moving among all people ( Brahmins included ). trust me people are not as bad as u think !!

Well Said Elaborating on Mr Karunanidhi's double standards.... These people call themselves as atheists. Doest charity begin at home. Their family members worship all forms of god. They do everything these people are against. Secondly if your atheist then do not support any religion. But no they can support Muslims and Christians because they know they will have to gain votes For the Hindus they always use the use the Anti Brahman card to garner the majority of the votes. In the end it all comes down to votes and seats nothing more.
