'Periyar was against Brahminism, not Brahmins' this interview with Mr Gnana Rajasekharan, is a thought provking one and enlighted me. i did learn gem of lessons for life from the principle of Great Periyar. it is indeed true that Periyar was much ahead of his time. i firmly believe that he was against relgious practices not religions.
his radical thinking and belief is clearly shown in his writing "In 1928, he started a movement called self-respect movement. If you read it, you will see he had such a great vision."
At the entrance to the conference, it was written, widows and those who are branded as prostitutes are welcome. He always respected women.

If this is the article that will enlighten you, then, not even Jesus or Allah can save you (as a follower of E.V.Ramasamy Naicker, you will not have the guts to say that other religions such as Islam and Christianity also should not preach God - that is your hypocrisy). A man who never had any principles in his life, was happy shooting off the hip inanities, made it big only because he targetted the Brahmins, who were and are the weakest politically, socially and financially. Would you accept his "teaching" that your mother or sister/s need not be chaste? Come on yaar, if you have gained in life because of his Brahmin - baiting where he ordered that one should kill the Brahmin and not the snake, go ahead and enjoy it in his name. Why do you want to perpetrate a legacy that is a shame on any right thinking individual?

You are right. He was against nudity in public, but not against not wearing pants in public :)
