Periyar was Kannadiga/Telugu Naikar, not Tamil. He used the divide and rule method of British and divided the tamils in the name of caste. Mainly he wanted turn the uneducated low caste people against educated Brahmins, so that the Brahmins will leave the state and non-tamils can rule the Tamilnadu. He was able achieve it, most the Brahmins went to Delhi, Mumbai & other states and now most of the leaders in Tamilnadu are not tamils.
He said no god and broke Hindu statues and temples, but did not say a single word against Christianity or Islam.
He also tried to divide India.
The current state of cast based Tamilnadu politics is because of him. It is unfortunate that Tamilnadu went behind these kind of leaders instead of Rajaji, Kamaraj, etc.

I think, now you can see in Tamilnadu that all kind of people are in good place which is not the case before 30-40 years.Also Tamilians known to be performing well with Bengalis in India.So who made this change.

What is the great thing about Tamil Nadu. Chennai gets lots of funds for infrastructure activities because it is a metro. Also for the IT revolution we have to thank the telugu people and Bangalore city. CHennai is far behind and I have never heard any non-tamil wanting to settle down in Tamil Nadu.

You moron.. You cant accept the growth of your own people . In TN ,they accept the real skill and they promote the real skilled people. In industry or cini field or politics or what ever so. For example Rajini is super star in cini field.. Only one time his voice was echoed in TN politics. But he was not good enough to stand in politics.There after the people ignored him . How come most of the industry set up is going on in tamilnadu even you are considering rest of the india is brillient ahead of tamil nadu. ? Dont be jelous of your own country men. Be proud of it. In TN , there is no history of bashing about other language people or so. Learn first. then speak

It shows your ineptness in software industry, More than 40 % of S/w Engineers in Bangalore are Tamils,. Less than 20 % collectively belong from North India, Other are from Andhra/Kerala. Ask Anyone from Bangalore. Tamil Nadu is in the peak, It is developing far better than any other States in India,

My friend you are contradicting yourself, if tamil nadu is in its peak, why do 40% of all software engineers in bangalore come from tamil nadu. You have unwittingly let the cat out of the bag. Tamil nadu is not developing economically but is living on the remittances of people working elsewhere. Seems like tamil nadu is keen on following its south western neighbour.Now dont tell me there was a need in bangalore and so they came.

yes jeyashree, the only state you have keerapatti's and pappapatti is tamil nadu, where even after 4 decades of dravidian party rule, constitutionally reserved panchayat posts remain vacant. That is sure not going to happen in any other state including bihar.

Gujarat & Rajasthan have zero deficient budget this year.. is it because of periyar?
Periyar advocated that women should throw their husband away and instead should choose any male of her choice to live -in. If she doesnt like him, then she should easily throw him and find others. Chastity is something considered as backward by him, and he advocated the women to mate with any one they wanted. Are you ready to follow him? or in that sense, have his own family followed it?

Economically tamilnadu may be better, that is not because of Periyar. It is because Tamilnadu got Madras/Chennai from British era. But still standard of actual tamils are not improved. Most of the business are managed by tamils, most of the doctors and engineers are also not tamils.
