TamBrams being driven out of TN is a good thing. If they stay back I am sure there will be a genocide of them in TN. Brahmins generally feel they are superior to others in knowledge and cleanliness and I have personally experienced it. They go to ridiculous extent of cleanliness. However they are not the true exploiters of Dalits as is commonly believed. Some Brahmins may have exploited Dalits. This forced migration will help them to realize how vulnerable they are and they will now try to form alliances case in point is UP. Also their obnoxious sense of superiority will come down I hope and they will treat others as equals. All said and done Brahmins do have a lot to offer to the country. Actually their situation parallels that of Jews in Eurpore. Any TamBrams will do well to move out of TN ASAP you never know when the genocide might start.

Genocide. Aha, Humanist, your real feelings are out. Let me guess, you are a from a land-owning OBC caste who has used the Dalits to clean your shit for centuries with a crushing inferiority complex about Tamil Brahmins. It was not Brahmins who denied Dalits water after the Tsunami but mainstream OBC castes like you, Humanist. Periyar should have hated caste, but he became a hater of Brahmins only. The \"Sudra\" ( pardon the term ) Inferiority complex at work. There is 74% reservation in Tamil Nadu not because of Dalit oppression - which continues merrily - but because the OBCs ( this includes everyone but Dalits and Brahmins ) in spite of being far wealthier, dont want to compete with Brahmins on equal terms. Ever Wonder why they have institutionalized their idiocy?

Unless I have it wrong, and you are a frightened Brahmin... Dont run from injustice in TN, Remember, the US Embassy In India used to call our nuke weapon the "Tamil Brahmin Bomb" in Delhi Embassy parties. We have full recourse to the constitution and world opinion to make it very hard for anyone to start a Modi-style Genocide. Demand your rights fearlesssly.

Brahmins didnt feel superior or didnt supress any body. No body told any body to get supressed... just think.... Alll these supressed ppl were happy to be supressed... Who told them to be a slave..Our country became a slave to British becos of our fellow Indians...similarly these became slaves becos of their fellow caste ppl... These stories told so that they can enjoy the benifits now....Without doing any anything they want seats in IIM and IIT based on their supression some 50 yrs back.. As u can see even now they re happy to be supressed, they very happy to be a OBC/SC/ST...afterall they re enjoying a benifits of being the same.
My overall pt, they re happy being a backward class/supressed class....Dont blame Brahmins for ur Laziness.. Go and do work, study well....and try a get a seat in IIT/IIM though merit... Dont blame Brahmins for ur failures in life..It is ur own life and u have to decide where u shuld go.. no body can stop u..

Nobody likes to be suppressed. Imagine yourself, born as a MBC. 90% of the case, your father will be having a saloon/Selling Harrack [yeah there is a caste to do that!]/Climbing Palm tree. one of this. Here your parents are not educated, nor have enough money. I agree there are many Poor Brahmins, atleast their parents are educated, which itself helps in bringing their child to a good state [ say, they buy a loan at low interest]. your father is illiterate, he drinks and is stupid. so for you, your parents are not going to do anything, the easy chance is u become like ur father and the cycle continues. but for poor Brahmins, the child has atleast a literate parent. That might help getting out of the cycle[ in most of the cases it does]. Tell me how will u break ur cycle, if the government also is not helping u pull out ?

prakash i am a 59 year old rajasthani brahmin brought up in kolkata. both my parents had never been to school. upto class VI i studied in a hindi medium school, which had only one teacher and there was no blackboard. my father wanted me to stop studying further after class VII. but i wept and my mother asked him to allow me to study further. i even got married when just 18, due to my parents insistence. but i was lucky to become a graduate mechanical engineer. my father was a shopkeeper. we did not have electricity in our house till i was 9 year old. we were from lower middle class. i feel that we should forget about caste and religious differences. let us live like world citizens.

Good point Ram.. But dont say ure lucky enoough to pass Mech Eng... u did hardwork considering ur situation, and ure in good position now. Keep it up...Only guys like u can say "let us live like world citizens" becos u struggled hard to come up in life, u know that value... While ppl here who are cribbing abt Brahmins, dunno that value, they always look for a easy way out and finally blame others for their mistakes.

good point Prakash. But economic considerations also have some weightage is it ? What about rural boys and girls . What about girls ? Dont you think all girls are born with a heavy disadvantage in India should'nt they be given more weightage. And why a guy whose father is some IAS/IPS get benefit of reservation. There should a calibrated system and the present systems simply is not fair to anybody but the rich OBCs

Prakash, Good point Prakash.. wat u said 100% right...But u can clearly see ur point, If a kid ent grow up well, it is their parents who did the mistake...not Barhmins or any other caste. I accept many ppl working Saloon etc..so here families income should base for reservation.. So now wat is happening all ur fellow MBC in the creamy layer is enjoying the benifits, it is not FC who is stopping u, it is ur fellow caste ppl who is ditching u...taking all the reserved saets for the deserving MBC students.

dude rocky dont talk about the present generation Hindus. I am talking about the past. The older generation believes a Brahmin is superior to other castes by virtue of his being a Brahmin. If you are Brahmins you can ask them frankly. Not just Brahmins of course but all castes feel the same there is a pecking order of castes , now thanks to IT industry it is slowly vanishing. Also I am against caste being sole criteria for reservations, it should consider all possible factors like rural/gender/income/caste/whethere parents have utilized reservations etc

Let us forget the past.. How long we are going to think abt past.. First it was British, who made us fight among ourselves... now we ourselves are finding a way to begin a fight.. Ok fine assuming Brahmins supressed Dalits or etc... I believe they are given 50 years, to come up in life, there are reservation every where in India.. check out all the govt offices, education, top most intitutes etc...there are so many chances given to OBC/SC/ST etc... if they still talk abt the past, then I am very sure they are just searching a excuse.. Just see countries like Japan and Singapore, so how they have developed... There is mixed population in Singapore, have u ever seen them fighting for language or caste or etc....

Tamil Brahmins are integral part of Tamil nadu. don't spit venom against stone. it is mere waste. For the matter of fact, Most of the ancient literary work of Tamil is unveiled by a Tamil Brahmin, known as Tamil-Thatha [Tamil Grandpa]. Periyar Started the movement against Brahmism. The word, which i don't agree with, but implies the meaning Castism. DMK changed it towards Brahmins for politics. It is divide-and-rule game.
RE:I would say
by Vimala S on May 01, 2007 11:38 AM Permalink
Hey Prakash, you just support Brahmin. You do not know in detail about this. Why define and divide Tamil Brahmin and all?
The human needs are never covered by DMK in the official policy , of the party, which are always distrupting. Such as some anti-ism. (Anti-brahminism, anti-god, etc.) It is never towards peace. Their is no humanity shown for Brahmins, the Periyava was much disrespected , with a lot of jokes, the society was not nutured by DMK. Rather we can say that it is always distrupted. They simply say that God is not there and the god worshippers are barbarians. Is the God worshippers do distrupt Karunanidhi or Karunanidhi distrupts god worshippers?
Why they want to kill the brahmin first when at sight in comparison with a snake? Are they showing mercy to snake. If they love snake they can always go to some temple and offer milk and egg. In toto , this is inhuman.
RE:I would say
by Humanist on May 01, 2007 10:58 AM Permalink
was'nt Periyar the one said "If you see a snake and a Brahmin, kill the Brahmin first" ? No amount of literary manipulation can hide it. He hated brahmins that is a fact and made hating brahmins a ideology. Any hate based ideology is wrong regardless of who proposes it.

It is not like Genocide. For Genocide to happen, a dictator has to be there [ like Narendra Modi ]. In Tamil nadu, these Brahmins/Non-Brahmins are merely used for Political benefits. Karunanidhi has many Brahmin friends. in fact, his personal Doctor was a Brahmin. I have not heard any Brahmin killed/Jailed due to these issues in Tamilnadu in the past 30 years history [which are typical in case of Genocide dictators].
