sir, we would certainly want the rebate on home loan interest to stay as many like me who have availed loans to purchase a house of their own, could do so only because the rebate was existing previously. the rebate was the only hope to get some tax benefits so average income individuals. Govt. has been encouring the housing industry, and the banks are too wooing the individuals with attractive loan rates, but if the home loan rebate is removed, it would really hard hit the existing buyers as well as there would not be many who would go for purchasing new house of their own in the future. pl. pl. do not remove home loan rebates in income tax !!! - rajesh
