Namesake Indian
by Guest on Sep 24, 2008 11:17 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

I would be happy if an Indian staying in India working for India wins a Noble prize rather than the one staying in USA/UK & preaching India what to do & what not to do.Prominent example is Amartya Sen!!

I completely agree with you. I need a person 'born in India, brought up in India, Educated in India' bagging nobel award based on his/her work in India. Only then I will feel a sense of pride. It will prove that ultimately our own systems have proven themselves on the world stage. Till then let's feel pseudo-satisfaction from these type of news.

Uhm, Amartya sen was a cambridge educated economist. He taught in Jadhavpur univ for sometime, then in Cambridge, Oxford and now harvard. He's been everywhere, so he's not staying only in India and working only for India.
