India is the only country where Hindus are now called fundamentalists and terrorists! For years, I have lived outside India (because I could not get a job due to reservations for SC/ST and bias against upper caste Hindus1). In USA (especially Boston area)- Radio talk show hosts constantly cite Hindus1 as a model minority, peaceful and productive. Now, compare that to India. Today, Pope gave a speech, in which he criticized the Western countries for becoming too secular. In his own words, "secularism is killing religion"- in India, it is definitely "designed" to malign and debase our 6000 years of heritage, the oldest on this planet, ageless, never withering beauty- that is Hinduism.

Fluffy... The scale and nature of problems in India are very unique and it is almost impossible to stereotype Hindus to be a peaceful lot or Muslims to be an aggressive lot. It is like the parable about blind men describing an elephant. I find it amazing that a country with so many different religions, languages, castes and subcastes is able to exist in the first place. Perhaps, it was not the best idea to create a unified country with such diversity (the problems are inbuilt in India), but now that we are here, the most straightforward way to deal with the situation is secularism (simply meaning separation of religion and state), which is what our constitution makers attempted. I feel that the real problem is that the meaning of secularism in government has been twisted by politicians, who simply play on the minds of the common folk, to mean anti-hindu, anti-brahmin (although brahmin community is numerically a minority) and pro-religious minority (muslims, christians etc.). What is amazing is that it is not just the illiterate and sparsely educated folk that get caught up in this mesmerism, but also well read people, who should be able to look at the larger picture. The vote bank politics and reservation policies, without a mathematical logic, have proved extremely harmful and have hampered the ability of educated people to think rationally and reasonably.

Fluffy Kumar, In your name you are what bluff, The Islamic terrorism is the creation of Western forces,In US you are happy to with your tail hide behind your leg, If minorities in india live in that way you are living in Western countries,There would be no trouble at all.Eventhough our minorities like christian want right to convert others to their religion. In India it is not the question of practiceing ones religion.Particularly minorities behaviour to black mail majority through western elements are the real reason.Further Pak/iran/afghan/Gulf/Bangladesh are the neighbour to india,So all the terror ation there and wealth accumulation there will create impact on india also. Even with largest diversion indian are the only people who give the safest bed for any minority.
