Whither Unity?
by navinkumar nandakumar on Apr 30, 2007 09:19 AM

Post Rosa Parks, Luther King and affirmative action, we see a modicum of unity amongst the African Americans and the Caucasians. Post truth and reconciliation and downfall of apartheid, we see the Africans and the Boers living together without acrimony. Its only here post nearly a 100 years of reforms, reservations, equality, and upheavals and redistributions, we still seem to cannot get it right in terms of living at peace with caste or without caste in place. By 2020 at least, we should get our amity act together. Else, we would be the last infighting group left on plant Earth. I forsee even the Jews and Palestinians embracing each other by then, but our politicians will be the neocolonialists who would like our populace to be divided as Hindu/Muslim and then OBC, SC, ST .. AC/DC forever for them to lord over us.
