There was not much difference betweeen periyar and MOhandas Gandhi - both tried emotional blackmail to impose what they thought was right on the common man.
Periyar and their followers in their zeal to impose so-called rationalism and atheism on Hindus, used to garland Hindu gods with Chappals and take a procession on the streets! They thought that such acts would humilialte and de-hinduise the majority!
