illogial gender bias in income-tax exemption limits.
by PAV on Feb 23, 2010 01:01 PM

At present women employees get a higher exemption limit of income-tax compared to their men counter parts. Is not it illogical? In India, the family burden is mainly borne by men folk. The majority of working women are just an added source of income to their families. (Their men also earns income at the same time) However, all the working men do not have employed wives and they are supposed to carry the weight of family, including that of his wife, all alone. So, what is the logic of this gender bias other than it is used as a plank for vote catching? FM should correct this gender bias. After all our Constitution is against all sorts of gender bias. Isn't it?
