As with most of his articles, Mr Patel's this peice is also reflective of his utter lack of depth or insight. If TV vieweship is indicative of the vibrancy of any domain, then almost every aspect of human life is "past its peak". What he conveniently misses when he benchmarks interest in Olympics with Ranji Trophy 40 years ago is the fact that there wasn't even a single TV channel in most of India then leave alone FB, WA, Nflx, Hotstar and a gazillion other time sinks - all vying for an individual's time.
I saw actions on olympics while test match was going on. There are more like me. I even watched golf from early morning. The fact is, there is greater glory in winning medals in sports followed by the entire world or at least half the world.7PX
