If he is groomed smartly he can do wonder. No doubt he was running behind buffaloes holding the string which can assist him to some extent but at the same time he was running in a paddy field with bare foot so if given proper training and facilities he can excel. Take the case of cricket, now we have wonderful fast bowlers, all coming out of small cities and villages otherwise in 70s and 80s we did not have any genuine fast bowler.
Running does not require special talent other than good speed. So, he can be welcome to enter the athletics and coach him or fine tune him for next 1 year and atleast he can have multiple options open for which he may be fit like long distance, 400 , mile race, steeplechase and many others .
... there was another vide which made our man Rijiju very excited ... no sign or trace of that runner. In fact I have forgotten what that was all about. Anyone remembers ?
Our rural India has highest potential in sports. I am not surprised that he could run in the slushy terrain. If picked up and trained properly he can emerge world class. Unfortunately, in our country sports selection has become a highly biased exercise ,where the favoritism plays a major role. As i read this article, i find no enthu from the so called sports administrators in finding the raw talents and mold them. I salute the sports minister Kiren Rijiju, for issuing the instruction for calling Gowda for a trial by the so called experts. I Pray let not the Sports Administrators play negative in this matter.
