. Pak has many governments, civil, ISI, military, mullah, Taliban, separatists....
each of them hailing from poor or lower middle class families, died due to the mistakes of politicians, primarily the mistake of Jawaharlal Nehru !
No point in keeping this fact hidden under platitudes such as *they died for the country* !
Nehru, against the same advice of Sardar Patel to leave Kashmir to its fate, chose to forcibly make the princely state a part of India by coercing Raja Hari Singh to sign on the instrument of Accession in return for protecting him from Pak irregulars (tribals).
In the past 7 decades, innumerable commoners (soldiers as well as civilians) have died as a result of this unnecessary and foolish act.
Nehru even spurned a UN mediated proposal to divide the Indus river system (consisting of 6 rivers) equally between India and Pakistan if a planned plebiscite resulted in Kashmir leaving the Indian union and joining Pakistan. If this had happened, sustainable peace could have had a real chance !
