It seems that the airlines have become local trains now a days and take booking from all agents, websites etc. and thereafter takes apologies from customers that they will be adjusted in next flight. Is it that they do not have proper systems to stop overbooking of ticktets in one plane or they have just become next local trains and local buses of India.

Overbooking is normal and deliberate to avoid empty seats (lost revenue) due to last minute cancellation or passengers failing to show up. This is nothing new or done by mistake. No, the comparison with local(Mumbai?) trains is not accurate.
