There always have been people who in a [usual political] debate will tend to question the other person’s pedigree, religion, character etc because they cannot like anyone with opposing ideology or, offer a legitimate counter-point. Taking advantage of anonymity of social media this particular brand of people turn downright abusive ……. One can witness this trend in charged political atmosphere from USA to India; it really does no good to the political icons they pretend to uphold….perhaps it may somewhat dent their image. Yes, it does nauseate the rational readers ….a platform for saner debate is thus lost to virulent abuse! Jwala can be an easy target!

The man did not have any business asking the pedigree but Jwala did not conduct herself that would make us proud. If I go thru the details of the intercepts, the man was trying to understand what makes anyone hold a particular opinion. Whats wrong in asking that & whats there to get so offended by being asked? Jwala could have easily with criticisms of what she feels the present PM & govt is damaging the country. A smart person would always have few examples at finger tips rather than harping on a broken record of democracy & right to opinion.
Yes, everybody has a right to his/her opinion but sane people base their opinion on reasons & facts & can easily justify them. Somebody who has not justification or no sound reasoning on the opinion will keep ranting democracy & right to opinion. So while the man was wrong, Ms. Jwala also did not do herself or anyone else proud with these futile unsubstantiated replies without any cogent counter arguments. The easiest way to wriggle out of a debate is to get rhetorical & thats exactly what this lady did.

As a responsible member of society, I have been tempted to post views on subject, I deem important for mutual exchange of ideas and being a researcher I have always written fact-based and documented blogs...still more often than not, I had got rough end of the moral stick freely wielded these days. Your response was a welcome surprise ..... this is what I wanted to elucidate that this medium can be a useful vehicle for thought-sharing! Thanks again!
Is there anything that restricts to being antimodi. I am antimodi, so what? Everybody has his/her own right to support or oppose anybody, whether he is PM or a common man. These trolls remind me of Swati Chaturvedi's book, "I am a Troll". Everybody should read the book to know the facts inside the political system. It is based on facts and eyewitnesses accounts and trolls leaning towards a particular ideology.

Jwala was right in cutting short this man who was raising un necessary questions. Firstly he had no business to bring her mother in the talks. Secondly why is he interested in her political thinking. This all is definitely absurd. My good wishes to Jwala and her family. virendra
