Too much fussing over Hockey players!
by sandeep kumar on Jun 18, 2016 01:01 PM  | Hide replies

Every time our hockey team loses a match, there is talk of bad luck, or well played or hard luck stories, but nothing like these is reserved for our cricketers. These guys have won world cups, been N01, beat Australia recently(kohli masterclass) yet, the moment they lose one game, the media is out targetting players, coaches, their entourage and pick scapegoats. Its a sport end of the day, and our cricketers have brought much joy to our nation. its high time they are celebrated and also time for our hockey players to learn about aggression, killing instinct and develop a winning mentality from our cricketers

There are crores of investment in cricket and naturally expectation is more. In hockey investment is only 1% of Cricket and whatever they are achieving is more than what we expect.

India lost in ODI World cup Semifinal
and again lost in T20 World cup semifinal
Where was there killer instinct in either of those games.

Without much encouragement from Government or people, what the hockey team has achieved is a real milestone

Well Said Samant....Wish these guys realized their loopholes and set things straight...Australia, Germany, Great Britain, Netherlands, Argentina are proving too tough for both the mens and womens teams....They are always happy with the second fiddle (silver medal)....

Till when
by samant kumar on Jun 18, 2016 11:43 AM

Till when we will keep saying "Well played, better luck next time"? It's frustrating. What will aussies think of us? That we are anyways going to end up as loosing sides? This is enough.

Indian team always looses against the ausies. Wonder if they will win against them ever in major tournaments. Very poor performance on penalties. Diamond chance wasted. Very disappointed. Till when we will keep saying "Well played, next time"? When time time will come.

The gulf between Australia and India is huge......Today, Australia is so strong in hockey that even Holland or Germany can't stop them. India will take 10 years to even come close to the Aussies in hockey.

It is not clear why the event hosted only 6 teams. Where were highly ranked teams like Netherlands,Argentina,Spain etc. India's winning silver is creditable, but brings in a glimpse of London Olympics 2012's bronze medal for Saina in badminton, where injury to her opponent who was winning their tie, forced her to retire.

If you have not watched the live telecast of the final match, kindly watch it on youtube of hotstar. Compare it with the way our team played in the qualifier in which we lost by 2-4. Then you will feel sorry for your pessimism.

Champions trophy entry is restricted to few select team. India as Asian Games medalist and S. Korea as runners up qualified from Asia. Big tems who figured in the finals of Asia games, Olypics, World cup etc. only qualify for champions trophy.
