A Poetic Tribute to a Legend

I have been a fan of Muhammad Ali ever since I came to know of him as a legendary sportsman. I developed an interest in Boxing as a sport only because Muhammad Ali happened to be a boxer, not the other way round! I have always been fascinated by his larger-than-life personality, his gift for repartee, and for his ability to craft verses (popularly called "doggerel") at will! On the sad occasion of his passing, I present a short poem of mine, which I wrote about him nearly three decades ago, for the enjoyment of all Ali fans!

King of the Ring

Struts he forth in royal fashion,
Who for Boxing has a passion;
Matchless is he in the ring,
Being Boxing's crowned king,
Thundering punches does he deal,
To his spars, who swing and reel;
And whom do you all think could he be
Than swift and strong Muhammad Ali?
