Nonsense

This guy finished 37 in last Olympics. The best finish he has ever managed is 25. Even previously he has won medals at the Asian level but there is simply too much of a class difference in between him and the Olympic / world champions.

It is all about personal quest. Just why should tax-payer money be wasted on fruitless initiatives? It is easy to claim patriotism but just what is patriotic about his venture?

sprit is to participate....after getting qualified to participate, not going is a setback...not only for the player, but for India also. Everyone puts efforts to win, but only one person wins....

Let him participate. Why drag national pride unnecessarily. A few days back, another person who likes ice-skating was demanding money to participate in ice-skating contest in Denmark.

Just why is the Nation obliged to pay?

@Anhat Jain: "previously he has won medals at the Asian level": I never knew winning at Asian Level is so easy.
So according to your theory, we should stop sending athletes/sports person to Olympics anyway we know they wont win anything...in your words fruitless initiatives and save tax-payer money. You have all the traits to qualify to be a sedentry govt. officer..

@Anhatji, he is a Five-time Olympian. Note: Five time. Won a silver medal at the Asian Luge Championships and has two gold medals from the Asia Cup. Give respect.
May be you don't know that you need to playing at the elite level to qualify for olympics.
Regarding his finishes: That is what he is lamenting about the indifference of the sports ministry to winter sport.
