In a Hotel it is the CUSTOMER who DECIDES his DURATION of STAY. In a HOSPITAL it is the DOCTOR who DECIDES the DURATION of STAY. Similarly WHY does an ATHLETE need a COACH? It is the DUTY of the COACH to ENSURE that the ATHLETE gets the BEST AVAILABLE facilities during the EVENT - and NOT to say if he asked or not!!!! It is his DUTY to ADVICE the Athlete - WHAT is BEST !!!!. Gopichand DECIDED PV Sindhu's DIET and did not ASK Sindhu - if she wanted BIRYANI or ICE CREAM!!!!! SORRY to say BUT the COACH seems to be more of a 'SERVICE BOY' of some third class hotel - THAN - a COACH!!!!!
Whether she needed drinks or not, It is Coach's duty to be present at Event and he went to Brazil for that only. He need not to ask athlete about his duty, he is just trying to get rid of his responsibilities..
Indian Olympics is more an family tour abroad at government cost for the Kalmadies .No one ever ask what the Olympics committee does or are they accountable for anything.
This is simple, she denied for personal drinks, not for plane water, the coach and other officers there must provide her that fecility i.e WATER which they did not, which they are hiding behind words. They are responsible for well ness of players.
Provided the coaches statement is correct, the blame lies with all including coach as well as runner for- 1. The runner is an experienced athlete and needs to know what she needs to complete the run successfully. 2. Even, if the runner prefers to avail water from organizers, as an experienced coach he should have asked for intermediate supplies. This is fundamentals of safety of all those who values human lives, leave alone marathone. 3. The purpose of hirrarchy is to follow and implement a heathy system which will ensure no lapses are allowed. Here both SAI coach has committed lapses - a serious deriliction. 4.Yes, the organizers also to be blamed as they failed same way like our system to visualize the situation and take precautionary measures.

There is no need to ask whether a marathon runner will need any of the above. It is just the duty of the Official/coach to have arranged the same. Possibly, it appears, Jaisa may not have clearly understood the question, personalsed drinks etc.
