Is india a sporing country. No, we are a nation of specataors\'. The facilities , scientific training, sports management, and above all most population in our country is not good enough for highly competitive fitness and speed oriented sports. We do not posses he genetic merits too as what Kenians and other such population hold. Moreover, the quality should come from quantity of participation. It is wrong to count the medals merely on the population, but on its direct participation. Let us be realistic. Our achievement is not satisfying, but when we take all things into account, we need to be happy with what our girls have achieved. The present sports environment in India is far away from making medals with respect to its population. Rather than being a merit, the large population is a burden on us and it is a mistake to interpret our winning with the population. Frankly, I think we have been reasonably unlucky too in this edition otherwise it could have been a few more, it not the golds.
Indians are self -centered idiots who believe they have achieved so much.. but they cannot achieve anythig because of lack of wisdom courage and honesty.
When it comes to breeding like rabbits, we are numero uno ! When it comes to cricket, we are numero uno ! When it comes to trolling someone on the net, we are umero uno ! But when it comes to winning gold medals at the Olympics, we are lagging way, way behind even nations like Kenya and Thailand ! Can anyone please explain / justify why we sent 86 officials to the Rio Olympics. One of these 'gentlemen' was more keen to enter restricted areas and click pics, rather than cheer for our athletes. Speaks volumes for his professionalism and patriotism. The Indian OC should be disbanded and our athletes should compete without a single official accompanying them. Please note, the US (medal tally topper) does not have a single Minister of Sport !!! Also note, Great Britain has won 26 gold medals, sharp contrast to the 1 Gold Medal won at Atlanta in 1996. Time for serious introspection. Else, Abhinav Bindra will continue to remain a lone exception.
Let us face it - how many of us are proud of our performance at the Olympics. Consistently, we have fared poorly, returning empty-handed on several occasions. It hurts when smaller countries have raced ahead. And it is not because of lack of potential. It is just that the system works against sporting excellence. All those accused in the CWG scam operate with impunity using proxies and cocking a snook at the law. Sehwag himself does not want to upset the bandwagon and chooses to attack Morgan knowing fully well that attacking the system will only invite trouble for himself.

Well said...WE HAVE NOT WON A GOLD MEDAL CONSISTENTLY in Olympics. As long as India doesn't win 10 Gold Medals in an Olympics, we shouldn't be bidding for conducting Olympics..

Not ten but alteast one or two gold have served the purpose.Country like Kenya 6 Gold.
The snob Morgan forgets the fact that there was no Britisher who could go past the quarter final in Badminton and no qualifier in the competition rounds in wrestling. So what sports credentials is he talking about. As for hockey they where we have won 8 hockey Golds, Britain has never been an olympic champion.

They stood second in the medals tally Pal....Don't forget that...Just accept criticism with Grace and accept facts...WE HAVE NOT WON A GOLD MEDAL CONSISTENTLY. As long as India doesn't win 10 Gold Medals in an Olympics, we shouldn't be bidding for conducting Olympics...
we Indians should introspect and bring in a better eco-system for spotting and nurturing talents.... Sehwag and Tendulakar got their opportunities at the right time... but what about hundred Tendulkars and Sehwags who did not get any opportunity...???
Could not understand why Mr. Sehwag is so unhappy with Morgan comments. I think Mr. Morgan is dear right. We as a nation should be ashamed of our performance at Rio. Why to hide the fact Mr. Sehwag?

Agreed in fact celebrating like we are for Silver and Bronze will only make future athletes think that even Bronze is enough to live one life and they will never aim for the Gold. We should understand that after reaching the finals we should HAVE THE GOLD and should never satisfy with the Silver. It should be GOLD or NO MEDAL AT ALL. We should aim and achieve the BEST as their is nothing called 2nd Best....

The biggest challenge is the minute they win a Silver or Bronze we make them feel like Stars, give lots of gifts away and the next Olympics they don't even qualify....They get comfortable and relax for life....
