Olympics 2020 - India's Plan
by yogesh shinde on Aug 23, 2016 04:51 PM

Can't the Indian Government just bribe Michael Phelps of USA to renounce the American Citizenship and take Indian citizenship ?
This way, we can at least win around 20 to 22 medals and we don't even have to spend on other athletes.
If Bollywood can employ Hollywood technicians and boast to produce "world-class movies", can't Indian Government do the same?

Its Pure Vote Bank Politics
by mohit kumar on Aug 23, 2016 01:09 PM  | Hide replies

Modi knows he is down and out. By giving awards to these folks he will get them to campaign in UP and in 2019. Govt. is making an investment. These awards are no more worth than their metallic weight anymore

No longer a Ratan Just an Award
by mohit kumar on Aug 23, 2016 01:07 PM  | Hide replies

The KHEL ratan has like any roadside padmashree or padma vibhushan. Almost anyone with negligible achievements, even those who failed to win medals can get such awards. What needs to be seen is that the quality of indian sportsmen and women has gone down so much that is took STendulakr years to get this whereas these folks got through just one event even when they failed to win medals.

"The KHEL ratan has like any roadside padmashree or padma vibhushan" still you didn't get any of this means you are worse than roadside. in Olympics 14000 players were participated for just 200 medals means more than 13500 players retuen with empty hands.winning medals is not much important participating and trying hard is also important

awards spree
by ashok kumar on Aug 23, 2016 09:47 AM

please look at our level of athletes and performance worth awarding them awards.
Its become stereophonic to just award like we celebrate the national days and festival every year but this is to be given if their performance is note worthy.

this again is biased as hardly the judges have any background of the sport and mostly politically backed individuals. Its a wake up call smaller countries have outshined us atleast now we do away politics coming in between the sports and leave it to the professional people who are unbiased and care for the sports.

this way of just giving away awards bcoz they have to be given has to be stopped only deserving and worthy sports man and coaches need to be awarded otherwise not required to wast money and essence of such awards go unheard of.

Award distribution spree

Governments should make a clear and proper policy in conferring awards on any person. They should not try to use this as a political appeasement instrument and keep conferring without proper assessment. I do not undermine the achievement of the players but the performance should be consistent and awards should be given for lifetime achievement rather than one time achievement. The players tend to get complacent by such artificial hype and stop practising seriously for the next event. Rather than government should open more coaching institutions for sports and make these players responsible for running the institutions and training newer persons for future events.
