Can't the Indian Government just bribe Michael Phelps of USA to renounce the American Citizenship and take Indian citizenship ? This way, we can at least win around 20 to 22 medals and we don't even have to spend on other athletes. If Bollywood can employ Hollywood technicians and boast to produce "world-class movies", can't Indian Government do the same?
Congrats to the silver medalist. The girl deserves all the appreciation especially considering that for the 1.2 billion people we have only a handful of sports personals who measured upto the world standards. If we could inject money and provide modern facilities in a systematic way I am sure that more individuals could rise to the international level and provide the country with more medals while also the message of health and fitness could spread to a wider area and more localities. No doubt the achievement is remarkable and the inspiration it can provide will be far reaching.
Great performance Sindhu! our congratulations. May you win many more medals including Olympic gold. But in all these we should not forget Saina Nehwal who won a bronze medal in 2012 Olympics and became the trailblazer and inspiration for all.
Congratulations to P.V. Sindhu on her achievement at Rio Olympics 2016. She is the first Indian woman to win a silver at Olympics. Sindhu with her silver medal single handedly lifted India by 11 positions from 78th to 67th place. Way to go!
The Government of Telangana have to be commended for acknowledging and felicitating India's star athlete at Rio Olympics 2016. It is really heart warming to see the kind of honour and affection the Government of Telangana and people of Hyderabad are bestowing on P.V. Sindhu. I hope this will inspire many youngsters to aspire and achieve sporting excellence.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh too deserve commendation in equal measure for their recognition of Sindhu's achievement. Government of Madhya Pradesh as well announced a cash award of Rs. 50 lakhs to Sindhu. This is great leadership from CM Shri. Shivraj Singh Chaouhan.
But what is appalling is the attitude of Central government. They announced a cash award of Rs. 50 lakhs which is really a bare minimum. No honour or award or recognition for Sindhu is forthcoming from the Govt. of India. This is in stark contrast to enthusiastic showering of awards and recognition on Saina or Sania. Sindhu was not even given the honour of carrying Indian flag at the closing ceremony. It is as if Sindhu never happened for GOI.
Petty mindedness of central government on display in contrast to mature leadership of state govts. This is certainly not the way to go for a Federal Government.
