She has done it in the past
by Ashok Kumar on Aug 19, 2016 10:23 AM  | Hide replies

Sindhu has done it better than Saina when it comes to beating Caroline in the past. Though the head to head count is still in favor of Carolina (4-3, I guess), the experience of beating her in the past should give Sindhu the confidence to do well to'ow. All of wishes are with her.

India, with 2 medals so far,
by piri on Aug 19, 2016 10:16 AM  | Hide replies

is placed 78th among the 78 countries that have won at least 1 medal so far at the Olympics in terms of the ratio of medals won to population ratio !

And the 77th ranked nation, placed just above India, is far higher than India is in terms of the actual ratio !

Among the 129 countries that have not won a single medal so far, only Nigeria has a population exceeding 3 crores !

That is another stunning perspective of how ridiculous Indias pretense is as a sporting nation on the world stage !

Hi, It is not the lack of talent that India is suffering from. It is the poor administration and corrupt official who are spoiling the ambitions of the entire nation. Look at the poor preparation leading to the Rio Olympics. Oversized jerseys, Lack of rooms and amenities. Do we even try to pick the squad well in advance, train them in foreign conditions prior to sending them out? NO. Our officials are busy planning a foreign tour for themselves and their families, they have no time to prepare the players for the event. It is this sad truth that is ailing this country

You are right. It is corruption that stops India from developing into a sporting power.

As in every other field of human endeavor, it is corruption that makes India a huge basket case in sports too !

As per the 2015 Transparency International report, India is placed 153rd among 178 countries surveyed in terms of cleanliness in public life (least corrupt placed no. 1 and the most corrupt placed 178th).

And who is responsible for India being so hugely corrupt year after year after year, decade after decade after decade ??

The politicians ?

The bureaucracy ??

The business class ??

Of course, all these 3 segments are hugely corrupt.

But who makes them or allows them to be corrupt ??

It is the commoners, right ?

Khushwant singh said (way back in 1994) : Indian commoners are among the stuxpidest in the world; they re-elect thieves.

It is the commoners who keep electing and re-electing thieves, right ?

They think that if they elect a different set of thieves after 5 years, corruption will reduce, right ?

They accord respect, attend rallies, express awe and admiration.....and finally vote for thieves, right ?

They either vote for Congress thieves or BJP thieves or BSP thieves or SP thieves or DMK thieves or AIADMK thieves or RJD thieves or SS thieves or TMC thieves or........, right ?

When they vote, they imagine that corruption will come down and then when it does not, they think that corruption is inevitable, right ?

North Indian, the answer about the Communist partys achievements in Kerala will be too long, if all the comparative data is presented !

To cut a long story short, the Communist party is the main reason why Kerala has human development indices that compare with those of several developed European countries !

These details about human development will be too intimidating for people hailing from North India, one of the worst boondocks in the entire world in such respects !

They imagine that all the large scale diversions of natural and public wealth to croxny capitalists that have been going on uninterrupted for the last quarter of a century constitutes development, right ? They cant see that ultimately, the ones who will be worst affected because of such large scale loot are themselves, right ?

The stuxpidest elements among these commoners believe that corruption is inevitable and make the following ridiculous statement : Corruption exists everywhere !

Of course corruption exists everywhere but what these peabrains cannot understand is the huge differences in scale !

This is not the time to compare, dear friend. These 2 were the best India could sent and 1 of them failed earlier (whatever may be the reason) and the other has reached the finals. let us hope and pray that Sindhu remains focused and plays to her potential when it matters. Let us play player politics now

Disproportionate extent
by piri on Aug 19, 2016 10:11 AM  | Hide replies

of praise by the Indian press !

If a player stumbles at some stage despite best efforts and despite the horrendous state of support for sport back home in India, the Indian press keeps tearing him or her apart no end !

And similarly, if a player wins a game against the odds, the Indian press keeps repeating its praises no end !

Signs of a nation so hard pressed for sporting glory and a nation cowering in shame for being so short of sporting achievements despite being so horrendously overpopulated !

Mr Dhantannan, You may ask Her Gopichnd. He is till her well wisher unlike you who has nothing but only hate for her. And important thing, dont consider yourself an expert and guru on this sport. The player who has taken the great efforts and done hard work will not like to loose against anyone and always try to rise to the occassion. She will be the best judge what to do against her opponent. Like every Indians, you can only wish her best of luck instead of giving any advice. She will do her best without any doubt.

Different Fish
by PK Sagar on Aug 19, 2016 10:03 AM  | Hide replies

Carolina is a very very good player. She has improved tremendously in the last year and she was the only one to show the Chinese girls their place. No doubt she starts as the overwhelming favorite. Ther is another aspect that Sindhu has to be wary of. Carolina carries her gamesmanship a bit too far. She very deliberately delays between points to disturb the concentration of the opponent. The match umpire only keeps warning her but she has never been penalised for it.She has this habit of getting under the skin of the opponent. So Sindhu be alert.

2 medals for India in 13 days !!

No more medals in sight for India in the remaining 2-3 days .

BOTH MEDALS WON BY GIRLS !!

MEN found to be useless(nalayak) in a male dominated society !!

India's image in front of the world will improve with this example showing that India is inching towards male-female equality, like in developed countries.
