Somehow, the correct sequence of events is not mentioned here, maybe this is a copy paste of an incomplete report from someplace else ? Both the American Abbey D' Agostino, and New Zealand's Hamblin collide and fall. Agostino stands up, but Hamblin remains on the ground with her face down and for a few secs seems to have been knocked out by the fall. Agostino helps her to Get up and then they start running again. That is when Agostino realizes she has injured her ankle and cannot run due to pain. The REPORT ABOVE details the events afterwards...Yes Hamblin showed her sportsmanship, but it was Agostino who helped her first...This report makes it sound as if Hamblin alone showed that quality.
New Zealand’s Nikki Hamblin is true ambassador of human value which everyone should carry along...salute to her..glad to know both runners have been allowed for finals..thats gr8..but a question comes hovering..had the same treatment made by the organizers if an Indian helped Bangladeshi or Pakistani or any other third world country?..were they allowed to run in finals??
This is what sports is all about ... sense of fair play, good conduct on and off the field, empathy for the fellow participant ... both these athletes deserve to be praised.
