Certainly, winning is pride but loosing is no humiliation. Not participating and not showing competetiveness and sportsmanship is humiliation. We are proud of our participants in olympics. Winning a medal should have made us more happier.

till the time we will be happy with participation we will not win medals, though I would not say one loss is humiliation but a never ending series of losses is humiliating. Though there is sun shine in Dipa , who performed her best.
In sports, every sportsmen tries his/her best. There is no humiliation in losing. Out of 205 countries taking part in Rio Olympics, 128 countries have not won any medals so far - I am sure the sportsmen of these 128 countries have not humiliated their nation.

These 128 nations which do not figure in the medals table, have not sent a contingent of 120 athletes, nor have their media been boasting about India doubling their London haul of 6 medals.

Sir, India is largest in terms of population, size against most of those 128 countries. Every sportsmen want to win medal, but we just hope that they will win. The reality is that India is just a participant and was never in contention for any medal. For most of the olympians their target is achieved when they got govt. jobs. It is the taxpayers money and the sports federations must be held accountable for the debacle. The performance is nothing less than national shame.

After reading all the comments i thought of a proverb which is in hindi, which says even if we fell down one must say mud dint touch my tip of nose also. One more humiliation is by our sports minister and his chamchas. I think these chamchas thought that they are in India where you can kill any person on suspicion and get free under some banner or the other.
