Sachin Tendulkar tweeted that it is more important to compete and that winning or losing is part of sport. We have heard this hogwash of an explaination so many times it has become a part of Indian's "sporting tradition". While other countries athletes go for broke to win, India's seem to be competing to get a good feelin heart massage for taking part and spending tax payers money without accountability from the likes of Tendulkar.
Clearly this has been the worst Olympics for India as far as our performance is concerned. Many countries have performed better as the Olympics pass by one after another. In our case it seems to be the opposite.
Hope at least in the Oly 2020 we will perform better.

Not really Only in comparison with the Athens,London and Beijing olympics, we are at loss. However, the past records have been total blanks. This time we had quite a frw near misses and hopefully they will all be converted into medals in the next one. WE WILL NEVER REGULARLY WIN MEDALS IN OLYMPIC SPORTS UNTIL THESE ARE PERCEIVED AS GAINFUL CAREERS. hOBBYISTS AND AMATEURS CANNOT WIN MEDALS. BLAME ONLY THE GOVT AND INDIAN PSYCHE FOR THIS

DEAR I DISAGREE WITH YOU , THESE USELESS SO CALLED SPORTSMEN HAVE GOVT. JOBS WITH LUCRATIVE SALARIES AND THEIR ONLY JOB IS TO PRACTICE TWO TIMES A DAY ONE IN MORNING AND OTHER IN EVENINE . THEY ARE NOT ASKED TO REPORT ON DUTY EVEN . DEPARTMENTS LIKE RAILWAY , DEFENCE, POLICE , SERVICES , BANKS, TATA, MNCS EMPLOY THEM . THEY HAVE GOOD TRAINING FACILITIES AND COACHES AT STATE LEVEL AND ALSO DISTRICT LEVEL. ABHINAV BINDRA GOT THE GOLD IN OLYMPICS BECAUSE HIS MULTI MILLIONAIRE BACKGROUND AND GOOD SHOOTING RANGE FACILITY BACK HOME . THE ASSOCIATION DID NOTHING FOR HIM . OUR YOUTHS CAN ONLY TALK .
