Sports Medicine Physician and Sports Scientists should select potential player based on various physiological, genetic, biochemical and anthropometric characteristics. Then proper training should be provided, with the skill training part be given by well qualified coach. The role of sports medicine physician is very important, which is always neglected in India's sports. These are the doctors having specialization post MBBS in sports medicine, are well trained in prevention, treatment, management of sports injuries and other medical problems associated with sports. also they are trained in sports sciences including sports psychology and sports coaching sciences, which would help them in preparing the players along side the coaches for performance enhancement. They are the integral part. Ironically much neglected in India, event though there are now MCI recognized sports medicine course. Recently two radiologists were sent to rio instead of sports medicine physician.
