thx to rediff

while all media is busy covering ipl which is very boring rediff chose this news which i think is very good for other sports. there is blind love for cricket but we all are thereby ignoring other game or achievements in other games. our national game is hockey. our team went to finals but no media gives much coverage. its a shame that we all are blind behind cricket and at same time we also watch cricket news like how should they play and blah blah. media should give equal coverage to other games. cricket is nothing but big satta played by people. so stop watching it.

i also think that cricket should be taxed 90% and that tax should be utilized for development of other games especially HOCKEY which is our national game.

Congrats to Deepa for her stupendous performance & for qualifying for Rio. I am certain 90% Indians may not have heard of this girl, because she is not from Delhi,Mumbai,or does not participate in those sports which get big coverage like cricket/tennis.Neither has she taken part in promo/ramp shows like a famous badminton female star. Today, everything is linked to glitz & glamour, & you have to sell/project yourselves to be noticed & poor Deepa faces a handicap. Coming from a poor family & from a tiny poor state like Tripura, she hardly has the clout to do so. It is hard work & sincerity which has brought her laurels. Good luck for Rio

if one indian has to get selected to any international competition he or she has to be better than all other competitors from other part of the world.one has to overcome the politics and nepotism in indian sports and the mentality of the sports administrators. for me she is already world champion.

Commendable show by Deepa. Gymnastics has eluded India all these years. We need to encourage the street kids who are great natural gymnasts without the wherewithal to get showcased.

Hmmm

There are so many gymnasts who perform incredibly well on the streets of small towns and villages. There are tribal kids who also perform really well. But our politicians are only interested in 100ting the tribal lands and chasing them away and not interested in training their kids in such sports.

congratulations, yet another game which indian women will be looking for, Now the craze of cricket shall be diminishing, as the females like saina nehwal, sania, marykom, lakshmi, not to forget the PT Usha, anju george and now the dipa karmakar. Now there govt should give attention towards this kind of sports and encourage the females. Govt should take them as brand ambassadors not the celebrity from filmdom. Once again its a proud moment for Bharat. Jai Hind
