I'm sure there are a few who would have thought Federer would never again beat Nadal... but Fed has shown that age is a mere number for him... he is following in the footsteps of Connors as far as longevity is concerned who played upto 40 plus age.. Fed even at 34 plays great and makes very few unforced errors... Now it can just be imagined how his game would have been in his prime, when he made the whole opposition look weak.
Nadal was already on the verge of losing even to Rosol in the 1R itself and was lucky to have made it up to the final. But he ran out of luck in the final and lost to Fed. The loser Nadal will now get exposed regularly. The rabbit is now out of its prime and its going to get preyed.

There is one person by name Anuraug Rathore, who proudly said Nadal will never lose against Federer. But it looks like Nadal's career is going to end prematurely. Fede even at 34, is ranked 2nd, whereas Nadal is 6th at 29 years age. Its only going to get worse for Nadal.

Federer is now just 6 titles short of Lendl's 94, which should be getable if he plays for another couple of years. But Connors 109 titles might stand the test of time. Honestly only 1 in a million will play beyond 40 years age in singles.
