China being awarded one after another International event
by biswanath roy on Aug 01, 2015 02:49 PM

Beijing hosted the Summer Olympics 2008, then Shanghai got to host the FINA World Swimming Championship in 2011, this year, Beijing is hosting the World Athletics Championships, and finally Beijing again has been awarded the right to host the 2022 Winter Olympics. Therefore in a span of 14 years China has or will be hosting 4 International scale events, a rare honour for any country. It is not understood what India,China's rival in every field is doing? Why is our dynamic PM silent, lobbying with US&UK, against China because of its poor human rights record & Beijing's pollution does not hold much,as China's economic clout is too strong.India, if she desires to be a sports super power in the next decade, has to engage in hosting International level events,& not shy away from it. Unfortunately the present gov't is not to keen on sports,as its tallest leaders come from sports laggard states.

The awarding of the Winter Olympics 2022 to Beijing, deals a big blow to the triumivirate of USA,UK,& India who were the leading nations against Beijing getting it. Our PM during his recent Kazakhstan visit had assured them our support. This once again shows China's increasing clout, which is not a very good sign for us.

Dear, Instead of shining away from accepting increasing clout of China, We should prove ourself capable to be at par with them and not on the paper only
