Federer can do it
by Sajesh Kumar on Jul 14, 2015 12:41 AM

When two great champs play... on a given day like the Wimbeldon finals. One of them edges past the other, by a slight margin of unforced errors. It happened to Federer, it could have gone the other way as well.

Federer, if he continues to play like he played against Murray, surely as a chance to win one more grand slam.

Federer - a complete player if there ever was one
by brajeshwar nath on Jul 13, 2015 09:41 PM

If he can play and brutally tear apart a top player like Murray in semis, he still has it in him to win a slam like Wimbledon. Its just that he came close in first two sets and was almost there in 3rd set against Novak. sadly he missed vital chances when it mattered.
All credit to Novak for being the great killer that he is. Agile, rock solid in defense and a killer determination. No wonder he wins against almost everyone. But yes, if I have to name someone a complete player, natural, solid in defence as well as attacking game,, fluid enough to move around, it has to be Federer. He is a class apart. His number of slam titles testify to his aura and greatness.

Probability of another grandslam is 0.01% for federer . He sets record for number of grandslams and now he should focus on setting record for runnerups in grandslams. He is playing at 75% of his previous game. He has the game to reach semis of grand slams , but going beyond that level is purely depends on how other guys are playing .
Power in his forehand shots is not there , which one time used to be like a bullet shot with an outstanding accuracy & control & power. His backhand continues to be his weak link in his game with declining accuracy, which opponents withdouble backhanders are exploiting.. His serve, which used to be a weapon once upon a time was not so reliable or dependable nowadays and slowly becoming like a weak point. He was the guy , who can fire an ace on his second serve -topspin serve. He may not has the speedest serve like Andy Roddick, but accurate & controlled serve. That was the fedex serve !! not anymore.

Though court coverage was never his strength like nadal, but age has caught up with him and he is slow in moving across the court.
He is still a great competitor, but not a champion player ( like earlier as he used to be ) . He should enjoy playing now (rather than winning like earlier) as still he can show the world glimpses of his artistic shots.
With his style of playing , which is not so much physical like 99.9% other players does(speed/power) ,rather relying more on accuracy & control, he can still play for another 5 years but li

His Forehad is still powerful but not accurate enough like it use to be. His serve is stil great not very quick like some of the players like Ranoic,Karlovic etc but still a major weapon in his artillery. He lost yesterdays match only because he made way too many unforced errors. Othewrwise he played more winners than Djokovic which is not surprising as his is an attacking game whereas the players like Nadal and Djokovic rely hugely on physical aspect of the game like defending from the baseline.

He still has a chance to win the wimbledon, as his game on grass is good enough to beat most of the tops players including Murray and Wawrinka. His biggest tormentor Nadal doesnt have the game on grass to go beyond second round, which goes in Federers favour. Also, Djokovic cant continue in this form for too many years and i see no other new player emerging at the horizan.

So if Federer continues playing in his current form, then he still has an outside chance to win wimbledon.
