Paes Triumphs for the Sixteenth time

The news that Paes & Martina Hingis have won the Wimbledon Doubles was nectar to the ears!

Paes has been consistent in winning the Slams ever since he lost the US Open finals along with Mahesh Bhupathi in 1997. He has been a US finalist on four occasions. Paes has won total 55 doubles titles including 16 Grand Slams, Olympic bronze, Asian games gold, career slam in open era tennis, best singles ranking 73 & no 1 in doubles where players from almost all countries are there in a tight schedule & tough competition. He has an interesting Davis cup career also where he beat big names like Boetsch, Laconte, Ferreira, Ivanisevic & climbed up to Davis cup semifinal in 1993. He also beat world no 1 Sampras in singles. He has an ATP singles title also. Paes became only the second man (after Rod Laver) to win Wimbledon titles in three different decades. No other sportsperson of India has so many titles or achievement. This is his 16th Grand Slam which no Indian has achieved so far. Again, he has overtaken Martina Navratilova by winning a third Grand Slam after crossing 40 years of age.

I've lost count of the number of times I've seen Leander playing his heart out & giving more than 100% for India during Davis Cup ties. And the fact he is still playing top-notch doubles tennis at 42 shows his love & commitment for the game. If there is one contemporary sportsperson in India who is truly a Bharat Rathna, it is Leander Paes, whether they give him the title or n

Congratulations first for bringing shear joy to the country by winning Wimbledon mixed titles.
Congrats Rahane for having good luck & proving your mettle by winning one day series against Zimbabwe.

It is hoped that Sports Minister SNSonowal takes his
position very very seriously and ushers in a new era in sports management on the country to take level of sports several notches up then what is present!!
