Its pity that there are no set standards for this highest award that who all should get it. Country owe this award to Major Dhyan Chand, very few can match his patriotism when he declined Adolf Hitler invitation to come to Germany. Like good soldier he always put the Country first. How many such people are there sitting in the seat of authority of awarding Bharat Ratna have credentials like Major Dhyan Chand. Whether Government gives him this award means nothing as all the Indians have given him this honour jointly & he happens to be most respected Legend in the history of sports.
The previous govt has made mockery of this prestigious award by giving the same to all and sundry. Now everyone including, who has got fourth place in athletics with no medal is claiming the same indirectly.

The congress government had not just made a mockery of Bharat Ratna but of everything.
Think about the prestigious President position. It was the Congress government who gave President position to Prathiba Patil who had lot of criminal complaints against her. Not only that she got into lot of other controversies like taking her grand kids on tour at tax payers expenses, claiming a house in an area allocated for army, etc.
They totally spoiled the name of the president's position.
Let someone put a barrier on the petty and dirty politics on awarding the highest civilian award like Bharat Ratna. To start with, it should have been Dhyan Chand followed by Milkha Singh and then Sachin Tendulkar.
Mr Milkha Singh is the fit candidate for Bharat Ratan Award since he is the person from his feet running started in India. He proved himself in this chosen field without any formal training. He runs on the track in intial days when his family was butchered in his childhood days,He is great and fittest candidate for the best civilian award. His stories of the tracks should be taught to young school going children. Yes Dyand Chand was fully deserving and far ahead of Sachin or any other sports star. The Sports Ministry itself needs to be revamped and important sportsmen should be heading their respective associations.
