Expressing desire to receive an award from government is not expected from any one who have already honors on international level. It just like a Nobel laureate lobbing for ratna awards.
I a very big fan of Saina Nehwal. I try to watch most of her matches and in fact i started playing badminton mainly due to the influence of Saina Nehwal. However like this award issue in the past Saina has raised the issue of getting compensation from Andhra/ Telegana Govt. which was not paid to her. She is great sportsperson but her PR skills needs considerable improvement. Saina is an idol, role model for many youngsters and it is high time she acts accordingly. Even if she gets the award there would always be a question mark on how she got the award. On the contrary if she plays well in 2015 and wins many tournament she would be an automatic contender for any awards. I sincerely hope that better sense would prevail upon Saina Nehwal and concentrate on her game.

very well said but we have to give some allowance for her lack of maturity. she is only 21 yrs .it looks like washing dirty linen in public. Anyway she will be viewed as someone who has the guts to challenge authority and she will definitely be ignored
Soon any ole twit who can throw or hit a ball, or jump over something will rail and rant if denied an award...as if the only reason why they do they do what they do is to get an "award".

its pretty cool in Indian sports. If I want an award, I simply ask for it. Where else can you find anything like this ? On the other hand, if I like this guy I will give him an award :).
