The begining of new era

For very long time since 1980 we were not able to win consistently against european and australian team. But finally the jinx is broken. Although we have won bronze medal but the process of winning has started. We still have long way to go. May be we might able to see india at RIO olympics with atleast podium finish.

keep their heads cool at crunch matter. However winning two matches that too in quarters and not in bronze .. indians were lucky enough. India hockey need to be more consistent as they are being sponsored enough at leagues ..

Astro turf
by WILSON CHANDRAN on Dec 06, 2015 11:24 PM

After a long time I enjoyed that India playing a very good hockey to day. Right from the age of 10 Indian boys should be trained only in artificial turf. If trained initially in natural turf/lawn they would get accustomed to slow speed. Since the introduction of Artificial turf Indian and Pakistan hockey started failing. I faintly remember during mid seventies India had two astro turfs only, one in NIS Patiala and other one in NIS Bangalore while at that time England had 150 turfs. I do not know whether we have at least now 150 in India. At least we must have 30-40 in the following states - Punjab, Haryana, UP, Orissa, UP, North East, Karnataka, Maharashtra and TN where more boys are playing good hockey.
