Badminton is becoming popular in India because of some stars produced by India. But it needs lot of investment and money to take it to next level.
Badminton need to become a spectator sport. It's live broadcast on TV can bring in more spectators. Television viewership brings lot of money to sport and players.
Indian Badminton League(IBL) was launched at right time and it's first year was very successful. It did attract in-stedia viewership and TV viewership. But it is unfortunate that next edition of IBL is yet to materialize and there is already a gap of over a year.
It is important that events such as IBL which greatly help in development of game are held uninterrupted over many years to yield tangible benefits to sport and sportsman.
It is unfortunate to note that, there is some dispute between Badminton Association of India and promoters of IBL, from 2nd year of league. Let's hope their problems are sorted out and IBL happens uninterrupted.
