Nishikori should thank Modi & India for giving him & his country the confidence to put up an excellent fight. Modi's recent visit to Japan has given that country a big oppurtunity to make a fresh entry in the International arena. In the last decade or so Japan has become an also ran in the world of sports being dominated by China & Korea in the Asian stage,and it finds no place in the Olympics,barely getting a few golds, whereas its bigger & powerful neighbour China regularly wins 38-40 golds in each Olympics. Even in the world of business Korean firms like Samsung,LG, Hyundai, & German Cos like Siemens,Alsthom,VW,BMW,MB are faring much better than their Japanese equivalents like Sony,Panasonic,Toyota,Hitachi,Nissan etc.

You are very right Ashish, Japan's GDP growth is in decimals,barely positive, its population is receding,it is a country of geriatrics, 50% of the population is over 65 years. Therefore Modi's visit has givena chance to that country to suddenly get a business of over $50 billion in the coming 4-5 years,which is a big boost for them. For the last 5 decades Japan has become a side kick of USA, wagging its tail at its masters orders.
