Somdev, Yuki, Sanam Singh, Ramkumar are all great players..no doubt..but none of them could match the yesteryear legends like Ramanathan Krishnan, Ramesh Krishnan, Vijay Amritraj or even the ahievements of players like Leander peas, Sania Mirza during their peak.
Blame it on the mediocre facilities, lack of support/sponsors, fitness or anything..but this sport required extreme levels of concentration, muscle power and agility and I dont see India improving at all. We need to be contend with World Ranks 200 or 300 and be happy. Those days of Krishnans and Amritrajs are gone and will never come back.
Sad to know that we dont ve tennis players who can perform in singles... thats where all top players play n 95% attraction is in singles matches only.
Vijay amritraaj, Ramesh Krishnan had reached to some great heights, after then Lender Paes achieved a some ( bronze medal in atlanta Olympics) then defeat Sampras n few top players, apart from these 3, we ve absolutely nothing to offer in singles.
