Yes, indeed defeating Pakistan on Asiad after 48 years wiped out all the sorrows. We could have done better. There has been some bad judgements and our sports minister & officials could have fought the case for Sarita Devi & athletic team.
Why worry: the luck that came our way to edge out Pakistan in hockey is all enough to forget our lost glories in many other fields we anticipated in; particularly the wrestling & boxing! Will this jinx of Indo-Pak wrangle ever get erased in the interest of both countries?!

Sports in natural forms is always a great thing to watch and participate! Its definitely big celebration thing world over!Sportsmen bring joy glory..enthuse positive energy in us.
India ranked 8th among 45 Asian Nations Participated, should have fared well being a bigger nation among those participated. It shows talent needs encouragement, if India wants to perform well.

We topped the Gold Medal list in the first Asian Games held in 1951 .. Pandit Nehru was the PM then...In 65 years.. we have lagged in progress in sports and health while China, Korea, Japan have leaped forward... China has more infrastructure for active sports
India in this Asiad got 57 medals inclusive of 11 golds, and was ranked eighth overall, 2 places below what we achieved in Guangzhou 2010. Overall India did pretty well. Getting medals in 10 disciplines is indeed appreciable. But I am surprised at the decline of Japan as a sporting nation, it ended up with 47 golds & a total of 200 medals, well below Korea(77 golds; 238 medals) & China(151 golds; 342 medals). Japan in the first 8 editions(1951-1978) of the Asiad, always topped, but after China started taking part in Asian Games from 1978, Japan just faded away. Today she cant even get 50 golds, it looks like Japan, like her declining population, GDP rate, moreover it has become a nation of geriatrics, thus it is no surprise that its mastery in sports too has vanished.
